Ina Geerts

Ina Geerts (° 1965) has acted in theater, film and television since 1988. She graduated from the theater school Studio Herman Teirlinck in 1988. In 1993 she moved to Brussels, where she has lived and worked ever since. Her career started at ’t Gebroed, De Korre, European Drive Inn Theater and De Verrukking.

In the 1990s she played in various Needcompany productions (Jan Lauwers). Between 2002 and 2005 she toured with the dance company Ultima Vez (Wim Vandekeybus) and performed in Blush and Sonic Boom, a co-production with Toneelgroep Amsterdam. Blush will also be filmed in 2005.

In the film Someone Else’s Happiness (Fien Troch, 2005) Ina played the leading role, and her performance earned her a Golden Alexander prize for best actress at the 46th Film Festival in Thessaloniki. Her role in Bo (Hans Herbots, 2010) also received great acclaim: at the Ostend Film Festival she won the Ensor for best actress in a supporting role.

The last ten years she has mainly been active in the Brussels companies Wooshing Machine (Mauro Paccagnella), De Parade (Rudi Meulemans), Barre Weldaad and Jonge Weldaad (Barbara Vandendriessche) and Stand Up Tall Productions (Sanja Mitrovic). With the performance Dhakara (De Parade) she toured in the Middle East, Palestine, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon (2010-2011).

On the big screen she was last seen in De Behandeling (Hans Herbots, 2014), in which she plays the female lead. She also played numerous guest roles in television series.

Ina is also working on a singer-songwriter project called ‘INA’. Together with trumpet player Luc van Lieshout (Tuxedemoon / FES) she recorded the album GapTeeth in 2011. In the future, Ina will release the EP City Foxes follows under a blue moon sky which she recorded with a live band. At the moment Ina mainly plays solo and duo concerts.
